Some sessions just make you smile the whole way through, and this studio newborn session in Kamloops was definitely one of them. A sweet baby girl came in with her mom, dad, and two big brothers, and the morning was full of that beautiful mix of chaos and love that comes with a growing family.

The boys were unsure about getting their photo done at first and definitely wanted to just be playing instead. There were a few wiggles and wanderings, which is exactly what I expect from little ones this age, but we worked with it, letting them pop in and out for sibling photos and then giving them breaks to play. Their baby sister was such a little dream. She loved being swaddled and was perfectly content the whole time. Ever with her two brothers wiggling around her during sibling shots.

We kept things simple – soft, neutral tones and gentle, natural poses. No elaborate props, just the connection between them all and the sweetness of these first days together. Both of the dresses that the mom is wearing were borrowed from my client wardrobe!

One of my favourite moments was when the boys leaned in to give her tiny kisses. You could see the pride in their faces, like they already knew they had the very important job of being her protectors.

By the end of the session, we had all the images to fill up a beautiful gallery for their family to look back on for years and years to come. It was the kind of morning that reminded me why I love photographing newborns. Not just for the adorable baby pictures, but for the chance to capture the story of a family growing together.
